Quarter Four

The activity that I am going to reflect on is when we did a traditional Filipino dance called "Tinikling". It is danced with two tappers who hold two poles together and tap in rhythm. Dancers would try and dance without being caught between the poles. For our mini project, we were put into groups of three or four and we had to make up our own dance. We also needed music and then we would perform in front of the class. I think that we did okay. In the middle, Duresha who was really new to the dance, made a few mistakes so that I became confused and so did the rest of the group. Since I was so nervous, I did not do the moves in the right order so our dance looked unprofessional. But we still got 23/25 because we were able to do the moves well. We decided that Nancy and I would go first because we had the most experience.

The purpose of this activity was so that we could learn about different dances and cultures but also so that we could learn to make dances. This activity helped us learn to work as a team more because in this project, if one person messes up, everyone goes down too. Also, it was kind of like and introduction to next year which will be much harder because we will be using multiple poles to dance.

I learned more dance moves that dancers use because I had been here last year but we only learned a few basics and we did not have to make our own. I also learned more about my teammates because I noticed that some work hard and some don't really care. I learned this because we worked in groups. Something else I learned was that different songs have different beats so you have to clap the poles different

I think that I would have planned out our dance better and maybe I should have taken more leadership and I should have practiced more. If I had done that, then I think that we could have encouraged Duresha to try harder because she made a few mistakes. But I think she mostly made those mistakes because we kept changing her routine so that it would be different then Nancy's and mine. If I had the choice, I would have chosen a different group with people who work hard and do well after they learn. I think that we should have also practiced as a group more and with the tapping because we mostly practiced without the clapping

This activity does not relate to my goals which are to become better at reading comprehension questions.and to say at least one thing in every class everyday. But it is Phys. Ed so there is not a lot of opportunity to talk but instead just participate which I did.
