Quarter Three

The activity was a presentation that was given by a BJ service employee. He told us about oil. The employee told us about the history of oil which was basically how it was found in Saudi Arabia and what they did after they found oil and how they found oil. The employee also told us about what oil is used for and how people mostly use it for automobiles and other electronics. That employee's name was Abu Bakr. Mr.Bakr showed us a diagram that showed how much of a barrel of oil is used for what. The presentation also told us about how oil is refined and why it is refined. Near the end of the presentation, the BJ employee told us about pollution and how a oil production and products cause a lot of pollution. He also told us about oil spills and how they are very dangerous. Oil production costs a lot of money.

The purpose of this activity was to learn more about oil and how the discovery of oil has impacted Saudi Arabia a lot. It was also to learn more about the history of oil since that was something we were learning at that time. I think this also gave a chance for the sixth grade to learn about oil because they also watched the presentation. I think that this was also so that we could learn more about the different oil companies because a lot of people knew about Aramco but not a lot about BJ services. The presenter kind of told us a little about the different oil companies.

I learned more about how oil was discovered in Saudi Arabia because I did not know the exact dates. I also learned more about BJ services which is like what Schlumberger does. Something else I learned was how much of a barrel of oil is used for the different products of oil like plastic, crude oil, and jet fuel.

I couldn't really have done anything differently because it was a presentation that was made by someone else but I think that I should have listened more.

This doesn't affect my goal
