The activity was to make a diorama about Arabic and Islam. Earlier, we had watched a movie that showed how to make a mosque in a box but Mrs.Farag let us make anything. I decided to make the Ka'baa. I took a small bow and covered it with black cloth. Then I glued golden ribbon around it and put it on a piece of cardboard. I made some people out of clay and made them surround the Ka'baa. I then took more card board that was colored white and drew windows on it. My mom then helped me stick it on. This took me a while but I had some time to research.
The purpose of this activity was for us to make a decoration to put outside the classroom since it was Ramadan. It also helped us learn about Islam. While we were watching the movie, most poeple were fooling around so Mrs.Farag decided to punish us and gave us some homework. This assignment also helped us learn to build models because we don't usually do this so this gave us some practice.
I learned more about Islam when we watched the movie. I also learned more about the history of the Ka'baa when I did some research. I really never knew how to cut cardboard so it took me a little while to learn. I also learned that you should take your time if you have time because we had two weeks but I started early and I rushed because I thought it would take long but it didn't so my work wasn't as good.
I should have been a little neater when I drew the windows but I should have also made more people so that it would look even more realistic. I should have also designed it a little smaller so that I could have done a better job on it and it would have been easier to bring to school. I should have also created the Ka'baa so that it was smaller because it looked even less realistic because it was so big. I should have also made the walls bigger and better looking.
This doesn't relate to my goal because my goal is about reading comprehension and my social goal is to speak up more in class.
